Affirmations for Adult Survivors of Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) - Vol. 1
Welcome! Have you been rejected, shamed, bullied, and blamed by your family-of-origin - perhaps since early childhood - and struggle to understand why they would target you in this way? This channel specifically focuses on understanding and recovering from scapegoating that is fueled by the Family Projective Identification Process, which is similar to a shared family 'psychosis' (i.e., believing things that are not true) and can occur in highly dysfunctional families with unaddressed intergenerational trauma. It was created for both FSA Adult Survivors and Clinicians. It is NOT a substitute for clinical assessment or treatment. About me: My name is Rebecca C. Mandeville, and I'm a Psychotherapist and Certified Complex Trauma Professional; Family Systems researcher; and the author of the best-selling book on what I named 'family scapegoating abuse' (FSA), 'Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed: Help and Hope for Adults in the Family Scapegoat Role'. FSA occurs in dysfunctional family systems and is an insidious form of 'invisible' (psycho-emotional) abuse. After 20 years of clinical practice - including running Family Programs in addiction treatment clinics - I've worked with hundreds of dysfunctional families and scapegoated adult survivors where the Family Projective Identification Process was clearly at play. Understanding this type of projection can be life-changing for many FSA adult survivors who struggle to comprehend what happened to them in their families, and what type of abuse they are suffering from.
